Requirements
Must:
- Fortinet NSE 4 / 5 / 7 certification
- Experience with VoIP and broadband technologies
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals including LAN/WAN, routers, switches, and firewalls
- In-depth knowledge of IP protocols at the packet level
- Self-motivated with effective time management skills and the ability to work independently
- Excellent customer service abilities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with DNS records
- Familiarity with Juniper equipment and MPLS (desirable)
- Knowledge of Broadworks VoIP phone services (desirable)
- VMware experience (desirable)
- Understanding of Linux and Windows systems (desirable)
- Exposure to network monitoring tools (desirable)
Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd line support across our diverse range of services
- Manage 1st line tasks as needed
- Support both small and large customers, including critical corporate environments
- Participate in the out-of-hours support rota
- Visit customer sites when required, sometimes at short notice
Description
We are looking for a 2nd Line Support Engineer to join our team permanently at our Keele location. This hands-on role incorporates some 1st line responsibilities and offers the chance to work with a wide range of technologies and services. The salary for this position ranges from £35,000 to £45,000 per annum. In this role, you will support our business customers with services including Ethernet, broadband, voice (VoIP and PSTN), security, and hosting. Our client base varies from small sole traders to large corporations with complex, multi-site Layer 2 networks and advanced FortiGate security systems. A full UK driving licence is essential due to occasional travel required for customer site visits.
