Must:
We are looking for a Head of Engineering with extensive experience in full stack JavaScript development (specifically with Typescript, React, and Express) and a solid background in cloud-native architecture and service design. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating as a Lead Developer or in a hands-on Head of Engineering role within a product-led, fast-paced, investor-backed startup. Key skills include:
- Hands-on full stack JavaScript development experience (React, Typescript, Express, Node.js, etc.)
- A product-focused, business-first approach to engineering
- Experience in taking products into production, ideally data-heavy SaaS/PaaS solutions
- Cloud-native architecture and solution design experience
- Solid pipeline automation skills (CI/CD)
- Proven team mentorship and leadership skills, with aspirations to transition to a CTO role
- Ability to shape a technical strategy
- Basic understanding of LLMs in production
- Experience in a high-growth startup environment (preferably within e-commerce, data, or retail)
Responsibilities
As the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for taking our product into production and scaling functionality swiftly in response to strong client demand. You will work in collaboration with a dynamic team and possess the autonomy to build and grow your own team, fostering an environment where innovation and rapid solution delivery thrive. Your role will involve:
- Leading the technical strategy and execution for our products
- Mentoring and developing team members to enhance their skills and career progress
- Driving product development forward, ensuring that we meet client needs and market demands
- Engaging with stakeholders in boardroom settings to communicate technical strategies and solutions effectively

In return for your expertise, we offer a competitive base salary of up to £120,000, along with a generous equity stake and a clear business exit strategy.
