Requirements
Must:
We require candidates to have a demonstrated STEM degree in a relevant subject, such as Software Engineering. Candidates must possess expert knowledge of the software engineering lifecycle with a solid foundation in one or more of the following programming languages: Ada, C, C++, or C#. Practical experience in developing embedded software is essential. We are looking for experienced software engineers with a proven track record of delivering complex software integration programs and products, along with experience meeting schedule and cost expectations. Management experience of a software engineering team is also necessary. Key skills we seek include:
- Hardware software integration in a real-time embedded environment.
- Knowledge of DO-178, Multi Core Processors, and other industry standards.
- Expertise in toolsets and processes.
- Experienced software team leaders with a background in delivering change programs.
- Background in HMI design and graphics software (e.g., VAPS).
Desirable skills include avionics or mission systems domain knowledge, familiarity with Jira or other task management systems, and interest in general military aircraft domain knowledge.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will oversee the completion of allocated software requirements, detailed design, and implementation tasks. I will ensure thorough testing of completed functionality at both desktop and target hardware levels and will be responsible for generating software-level safety requirements and conducting hazard analysis to support system certification. I will accurately report on team progress while providing constructive feedback to team members and leadership. My responsibilities will also include supporting system test and integration activities, producing appropriate technical documentation, participating in peer reviews of my own and others’ work products, configuring completed work robustly, managing a team of software engineers, and helping to define the software development strategy within the wider team. I will ensure the workload is managed for timely delivery in terms of program, quality, and cost considerations.
