Must:
We require candidates to possess the following skills and qualifications:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Windows 10/11 and the Microsoft Office suite
- IT Helpdesk experience
- Strong networking and related troubleshooting skills (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, Ethernet, WiFi)
- Experience with software installation and maintenance
- IT hardware maintenance and support expertise
- Knowledge of antivirus management
- Cyber security awareness
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Flexibility and the ability to prioritize workload according to challenging deadlines
- Capability to work well under pressure in a highly regulated environment
- Ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels
- A consistent professional approach to all tasks
- Must live within a 40-minute commute to Knowsley, Merseyside
*Desirable skills include:*
- Familiarity with Windows Server 2019 & Active Directory Domain Services
- Knowledge of Linux Operating Systems (RedHat/Debian based distributions)
- Experience with virtualization (Hyper-V)
- Exposure to open-source technologies
Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Engineer / IT Support Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1st line support, assistance, and problem-solving for stakeholders
- Troubleshooting, monitoring, and maintaining the ICT systems
- Collaborating to ensure ongoing compliance of ICT services with adopted security standards (PCI-DSS, ISO 27001)
- Maintaining an overall understanding of the operation of the ICT infrastructure for quick support and troubleshooting
- Ensuring that the workforce has effective and efficient IT support to maximize productivity
- Providing 1st line support on various issues, including hardware, networking, operating systems, software configuration, and maintenance
- Managing antivirus solutions, patch, and upgrade processes (with specific reference to WSUS)
- Proactively detecting and reporting patterns of issues within the infrastructure
- Advising on software updates/upgrades and new software products to enhance workforce efficiency and productivity
- Reporting any configuration issues and completing automated checks to improve issue detection and correction
Description
We are excited to announce a new opportunity for a Technical Support Engineer / IT Support Technician with strong troubleshooting skills in hardware, software, networks, operating systems, and general IT infrastructure. You will join us in a busy helpdesk/service desk environment at our well-established company in Knowsley, Merseyside.
We are offering a competitive salary between £26,000 - £28,000 per annum, depending on experience. The position is full-time and permanent, with shift-based working hours Monday to Friday (ranging from 8:30 am to 4:45 pm or 9:00 am to 5:15 pm), and occasional Saturday working may be required.
You will report directly to the IT Manager and play a crucial role in supporting and delivering IT solutions aligned with our growing business needs. As a technology-driven company that operates within ISO27001, we prioritize information security for our business, clients, and customers. Your contribution will be vital in ensuring a secure and efficient IT infrastructure, enabling our operations to achieve the highest levels of efficiency, productivity, and security.
