Requirements

Must:
We are looking for a dedicated Theatre Practitioner who possesses registration as a Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC). You should have experience or training in theatre environments, specializing in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery. A solid understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety is essential. You must be able to work under pressure and respond quickly to changes, while also demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Attention to detail and a commitment to safe surgical practice are crucial. Previous orthopaedic experience is required.

As a Theatre Practitioner, I will assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and ensuring equipment safety. I will support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, and airway management. My duties will also include providing post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, and managing pain and nausea. Adhering to infection prevention and control policies will be a priority. Additionally, I will set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements, check surgical and anaesthetic equipment before use, and report any faults. Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to achieve efficient surgical lists will be an essential part of my role.
