Must:
We are looking for a candidate who possesses a degree in a relevant field and has a minimum of 5 years of experience in the software development industry, including at least 3 years in a leadership role. You should have proficiency in web programming concepts and technologies, particularly .NET, C, and Angular, as well as familiarity with cloud technologies, ideally Azure. Experience with both agile and waterfall methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban, is essential. We expect you to have a proven track record in line management, including mentoring, motivating, setting objectives, training, and performance management. Additionally, you should demonstrate experience in delivering technical work within time and budget constraints and possess a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle.
Responsibilities
As the Head of Software Development, I will directly manage a talented team of 4-8 individuals, ensuring workloads are balanced and knowledge is effectively shared. I aim to foster a positive team culture, protect against burnout, and support ongoing personal development through regular one-on-ones. I will also provide high-level technical guidance, mentor team members, and make direct contributions through pull-requests and code reviews. Managing technical debt and identifying risks while ensuring the team uses best practices and up-to-date tools will be a key part of my role. I will collaborate closely with other Heads of Teams and the Business Delivery Team to ensure smooth project delivery while supporting the Quality Team through technical audits and maintaining effective processes. Furthermore, I will work with the IT & Data team to enhance DevOps practices and cyber security, contribute to the development of technical and product road maps, and provide input to senior management regarding technical risks.
