Requirements
Must:
- Extensive experience with SQL and PostgreSQL in production environments.
- Strong working knowledge of TimescaleDB (or awareness of it) is highly desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in scaling database solutions to meet high throughput and storage demands.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting and deliver within tight timeframes.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
- Design and build a robust, scalable database infrastructure.
- Ensure high performance, reliability, and future maintainability.
- Optimize database performance and implement best practices.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to align database architecture with project needs.

Description
We are MCS Group, working with a highly innovative client in the IoT, wireless, and telecommunications space, seeking an experienced Database Specialist to support a short-term, high-impact project. This contract will involve designing, developing, and optimizing database infrastructure to support a scalable and future-proofed platform. You will play a crucial role in shaping the database layer for a mission-critical system. The position is based in Belfast, but we are open to contractors working from home or in other locations across the UK. The contract duration is expected to be 2-3 months, and the role is outside IR35 with a competitive rate dependent on experience.
