Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer with at least 3 years of experience in a similar IT support role. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of Windows OS/server platforms, networking, VPNs, and mobile devices. Experience with Linux, OS X, virtualization (e.g., VMware), backup solutions, and cloud platforms like Azure or AWS is essential. Familiarity with the ITIL framework and a process-driven environment is preferable. We value strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. You should be able to lead by example, mentor junior staff, and manage multiple support cases. A degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience, is required. Microsoft certifications (such as MCP, MCSA, or MCSE) are preferred, and you must hold a UK Driving Licence. Participation in an on-call rota of one week in every three is expected, with additional payment provided.
Responsibilities
As a Technical Support Engineer, I will deliver 1st and 2nd line support via our internal service desk and assist with 3rd line support and technical projects under supervision. I will be responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining IT hardware, software, and networks. Managing service requests and incidents in line with SLAs will be a crucial part of my role, as well as liaising with suppliers for IT equipment and services. I will contribute to our internal knowledge base and participate in the on-call rota for extended support hours or weekends. Ensuring compliance with our internal processes and documentation standards will also be my responsibility.
