Head of Infrastructure

We are looking for candidates who have: - A degree in a relevant area or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - A proactive and positive problem-solving mindset. - Inclusive leadership skills, with the ability to actively identify personal biases and consider diverse perspectives when making decisions and collaborating with others. - Demonstrated key leadership qualities, including self-awareness, empathy, a growth mindset, active listening, empowerment of others, and superior communication skills. - A commitment to developing effective relationships within EMBL while promoting inclusive behaviors. - Previous experience in senior team management, providing leadership in the delivery of a large IT infrastructure across multiple data centers. - Experience building long-term IT service roadmaps with a user community and successfully delivering on those roadmaps. - Technical understanding in some of the following areas: High performance computing (HPC), high performance storage (e.g., Lustre, VAST, Weka), large-scale storage (particularly object storage), WAN, and data center networking. - Experience with large-scale hardware purchasing, managing substantial budgets, and long-term economic planning. - The ability to build and maintain professional relationships at all organizational levels, including senior management, peers, and both technical and non-technical staff. - Excellent communication skills to understand stakeholder needs and convey technology options and opportunities.
