Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience in engineering leadership roles, particularly in software development environments.
- Proficiency in technologies including Node.js, Express, GraphQL, TypeScript, React, and React Native.
- Familiarity with orchestration frameworks (e.g., LangChain, LangGraph) and multi-agent workflows is a plus.
- Knowledge of vector databases, RAG pipelines, and lightweight model hosting is desirable.
- Ability to design data pipelines and feedback loops for enhancing AI-driven features.
- Awareness of emerging AI areas such as multimodal, edge AI, or AI in DevOps/observability is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Define the engineering roadmap and strategy, lead architectural decisions, and manage both internal teams and outsourced partners.
- Stay hands-on by writing production-quality code across the specified technologies.
- Deliver front-end excellence by building fast, responsive web applications using modern tools and frameworks.
- Integrate emerging technologies such as AI/ML APIs and automation tooling into our products.
- Design scalable API architectures, focusing on performance optimization and secure, cloud-ready solutions.
- Recruit, mentor, and grow a team of high-performing engineers, continually raising the quality bar.
- Collaborate effectively to translate product goals into clear technical execution and ensure strong cross-team alignment.
Description
We are seeking a hands-on Head of Engineering to lead our innovative social media app, which has rapidly grown to over 35,000 users in just three years. We aim to increase our user base to one million within the next two years, and you will play a critical role in shaping our technology strategy while remaining actively involved in coding and architectural decisions. This leadership position offers real ownership, allowing you to shape the future of our engineering function while keeping close to the code. We offer a competitive salary ranging from £90,000 to £120,000, plus stock options, in a high-growth environment. Our hybrid model allows for 2 days in Canary Wharf with flexibility for remote work.
