Requirements

Must:
To be successful in this role, you will need to have the following experience: - Knowledge of security systems including anti-virus applications, content filtering, firewalls, authentication systems, SIEM, EDR, intrusion detection, and notification systems - Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to solve complex problems, coupled with excellent written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment - Strong understanding of IT systems and infrastructure, with a robust level of knowledge in operating systems, software, and databases - Proficiency in networking technologies, network security, and network monitoring solutions - Proficient knowledge of security protocols and principles

Responsibilities

As a Security Operations Centre Analyst, I will play a critical role in supporting our Security Operations Centre (SOC) by providing essential day-to-day support. I will: - Monitor security information and event management (SIEM) systems for suspicious activity - Analyze and investigate security alerts to determine their legitimacy and potential impact - Document security incidents according to established procedures - Escalate high-priority or complex incidents to senior analysts for further investigation - Maintain up-to-date knowledge of security threats and vulnerabilities - Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes and procedures

This position is based in Southampton with a hybrid working arrangement, offering a salary of £34,233. We provide a Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%.
