Must:
We are looking for individuals with extensive working experience using Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Data Factory. Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in a commercial or public sector environment and the ability to build mapping-based data analysis solutions is essential. You should also possess programming and scripting experience (e.g., FME, Python, DAX, JavaScript) to effectively extract, transform, and manage data. A strong background in data capture, analysis, and management of complex datasets from various sources (like APIs) is crucial. Experience in collecting and validating intelligence, along with a solid understanding of the Microsoft business intelligence stack (e.g., Power Platform, SQL Server, SSAS, SSRS) is required. You should have a detailed understanding of SQL Server, including syntactical knowledge and query skills. Being able to work as part of a team to achieve shared goals, prioritizing workloads effectively, and having DAX programming skills to construct new data models and deliver valuable insights are important attributes. High attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present data clearly are also key. We expect candidates to be educated to degree level or equivalent.
Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer, I will have you design and develop Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipeline processes to automate access to source data, ensure quality checks, and enhance data usage. You will assist in developing new data analysis and reporting systems and create Dimensional Data Models using various frameworks. Your role will involve analyzing different datasets, correlating and integrating them with secondary and primary data sources to generate insights. You will identify and obtain key datasets that enhance insights, assist in the development and maintenance of our data platform and tools, and model, map, and document data and processes from the source to utilization within business processes. Additionally, I will have you help operate and maintain data portals to ensure data access for users while supporting data licensing and GDPR compliance. You will respond efficiently to intelligence requests from colleagues, partners, and stakeholders as required.
