Requirements
Must:
- 6-10 years of experience in data science or data engineering, with a focus on productization or algorithm development.
- Proven track record in delivering proofs of concept (PoCs), prototypes, or pilots that have commercial utility.
- Familiarity with compliance, retail, FMCG, logistics, or consumer insight datasets is advantageous.
- Prior experience in startups, R&D, or innovation-focused teams is a plus.
- Essential programming skills in Python (Pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch). Knowledge of R is desirable.
- Strong data engineering skills with advanced SQL and experience in ETL/ELT tools (Airflow/dbt), including cloud platforms like AWS/Azure/GCP.
- Experience in machine learning and AI, specifically in classification, regression, clustering, forecasting, and NLP techniques.
- Proficiency in analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) and experience in developing interactive dashboards and prototypes.
- Familiarity with productization and deployment tools such as APIs/microservices, Git/GitHub, and Docker (Kubernetes is advantageous).
- Understanding of experimental design (A/B testing), data governance, and ethical AI.
Responsibilities
- Build innovative data products and algorithms by prototyping and refining predictive models (e.g., compliance forecasting, anomaly detection, NLP-based feedback analysis) and integrating solutions into client dashboards and intelligent tools.
- Actively participate in our Innovation Labs by leading the data science lifecycle, from ideation to prototype to pilot, using agile methodologies (sprints, MVPs) to collaboratively deliver validated concepts.
- Engineer the future by building scalable experimentation pipelines and ensuring a smooth handover to production systems, while also researching and piloting emerging technologies (e.g., GenAI, LLMs, advanced ML frameworks).
- Champion data innovation within the company by serving as Serve Legal's in-house data evangelist, translating complex findings into client-ready insights and influencing leadership with strategic ideas for new revenue streams and services.

As a member of our Innovation Labs, you will work in a dynamic environment where you can experiment, prototype, and create compelling data solutions. This role balances data science and engineering; in addition to exploring and analyzing datasets, we expect you to help establish cloud-native data foundations, including a data warehouse and supporting data pipelines. We value curiosity and experimentation and offer a remote-first, flexible environment with occasional travel to London (twice a month). We provide a competitive compensation package, including a base salary of £60,000 to £75,000, depending on location and experience, along with a 10% bonus scheme.
