To be considered for the Senior Data Analyst role, we recommend that you demonstrate the following in your application:
- It is desirable to be Microsoft certified in PL300 and/or DP600.
- You should be qualified with a STEM or numeracy-based degree.
- You need to be a power user of Microsoft Power BI and proficient in all Office 365 applications.
- You should be well-versed in a variety of BI & ETL software (e.g., DAX, SQL, Azure tools, Power Query, R, or Python).
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage with people at all levels are essential.
- Strong documentation and presentation skills are a must.
- Experience in working with and ingesting a variety of different data sources of different types (e.g., JSON, CSV, API, etc.) is required.
- You should have strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail.
- Proven working experience as an Analyst is essential.
- Beneficial to have experience in Power Apps and Power Automate.
Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Analyst, I will train, advise, develop, and mentor Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), Apprentices, Interns, entry-level Data Analysts, and Graduates. This includes allocating and scheduling projects and supporting the Analytics Manager to ensure that our data roadmap objectives are achieved. My tasks will involve liaising with colleagues throughout the business to support their development and establishing relationships with our internal and external business partners regarding data gathering, analysis, and reporting. Additional responsibilities include:
- Gathering, designing, and developing systems, specifically in Power BI.
- Managing end-to-end development, covering business requirements gathering, data analysis and reporting capabilities, continuous performance monitoring, identifying improvements, measuring business benefits, and conducting gap analysis.
- Coordinating all requests for changes to existing dashboards and requests for new dashboards, along with reporting requirements to meet business objectives.
- Managing the underlying data in SQL to prepare it for Power BI dashboard development.
- Reviewing external BI developments for new capabilities, enhanced automation, and new add-ons or services.
- Sharing best practices and engaging with colleagues across the wider rail industry.
- Working across the business with a variety of stakeholders to solve problems and communicate data in a timely and customer-centric manner.
- Acquiring data from primary or secondary data sources and maintaining databases/data systems.
- Creatively applying the most appropriate analytical methods to address business questions.
- Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets using statistical techniques and providing ongoing performance reports.
