Must:
To be successful in this role, I require you to hold a qualification in Information Technology or a related area, or have experience in an IT field. You must have in-depth knowledge and proven experience in at least three of the following areas: - Data Centre Hardware - Technical infrastructure installation - Infrastructure Cabling and configuration - IBM Mainframe Hardware Additionally, you should demonstrate experience of working practices and processes within IT Service Delivery, as well as high-level planning and managing technical change. I am looking for an effective communicator who can build relationships with engineers and other stakeholders. A team player with an analytical approach to problem solving and technical information gathering is essential.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the hardware and software infrastructure, including servers, networking equipment, storage systems, and operating systems. You will represent your specialism on relevant projects and programs, providing advice and guidance to ensure services are developed in a supportable design. Planning and managing technical changes related to your IT Operations specialism will also be part of your duties. You will act as a technical role model and leader within the IT Operations Practice and associated areas, offering guidance to junior staff. Monitoring and analyzing the availability and performance of the IT infrastructure and IT services will be key to your success. Additionally, you will need to attend sites for installation, management, patching, and replacement of hardware, and support 3rd party engineers in our Data Halls and local offices. Please note that a minimum of 30 hours per week is required for this position. Occasional travel, including stays away from home, and participation in a permanent on-call rota may be necessary. You will also need to manage planned out-of-hours work to deal with IT changes and maintenance.

This position offers a salary of £41,100 - £44,400, with a pay supplement scheme dependent on your assessed capability level. We provide a Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%.
