Must:
I am looking for a Data Consultant with strong ETL experience in data migrations or software transitions. You should possess expert-level SQL scripting skills for transformation and manipulation, along with hands-on knowledge of Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL. Excellent communication skills are essential for effectively collaborating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A problem-solving mindset is crucial, especially when faced with incomplete or messy data. I value a consulting approach that is proactive, collaborative, and detail-driven.
Nice to Have:
It would be beneficial if you have experience with UK Local Government datasets or public sector systems. Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP would also be advantageous. Additionally, knowledge of spatial data tools (like ArcGIS or QGIS) and experience with document management systems and data validation processes will enhance your application.
Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will lead data migration and ETL projects for UK public sector software implementations. Your role will include analyzing and mapping legacy database schemas (Oracle, SQL Server, Postgres), extracting raw data from legacy systems often with limited documentation, and writing and executing SQL scripts or using ETL tools to build data pipelines. You will also create transformation logic and perform reconciliation and validation, working closely with customers and internal teams to troubleshoot and ensure smooth migrations. This role is not focused on BI or data visualization; I am seeking someone who enjoys dealing directly with raw, inconsistent data and scripting solutions that deliver real value.
