Requirements
Must:
We require a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Industrial Automation, or a related discipline. You should have 5–7 years of experience working with industrial automation systems and operational technology. A strong knowledge of network security frameworks, industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, OPC, PROFINET), and OT/ICS cybersecurity principles is essential. Experience with PLC programming, SCADA systems, and automation hardware/software integration is also needed. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and collaboration skills with a focus on delivering practical solutions are crucial. Preferred certifications include Certified Automation Professional (CAP – ISA), Cisco CCNA Industrial, GIAC GICSP (Industrial Cyber Security), CISSP (OT Security focus), and ISA/IEC 62443 series certifications.
Responsibilities
As an OT / Cyber Engineer, I will develop, maintain, and optimise refinery DCS and SCADA networks. I will identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks in operational technology environments while ensuring regulatory compliance and alignment with best practices in OT operations and security. I will collaborate with IT, Production, and other stakeholders to integrate OT systems with enterprise infrastructure. My role will also involve monitoring, troubleshooting, and improving real-time industrial automation and control processes, deploying, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software for PLC, DCS, and SCADA systems. I will audit compliance against our OT policies and procedures and develop forward-looking policies to meet emerging legislation. Additionally, I will proactively problem-solve OT issues to minimise downtime and operational risks and contribute to a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and innovation across the refinery.
Description
This full-time position offers a salary between £45,000.00 and £53,000.00 per year. A Bachelor's degree is required, and we expect experience in operational technology for at least 4 years. The work location is in person.
