VANRATH
Gloucester Street, Belfast
£45,000 - 45,000
Requirements
Must:
We are looking for individuals with a strong background in system operations, network operations, or infrastructure support, ideally within the financial services sector. You should have practical experience with both on-premises and cloud-based environments, particularly with AWS knowledge being highly desirable. Hands-on scripting and automation experience (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl) is necessary. You should also possess an understanding of Unix/Linux and Windows Server environments and the ability to troubleshoot infrastructure and network issues, including firewalls, routing, and connectivity. Experience in implementing and maintaining monitoring solutions in complex technical settings is important, as are strong communication skills that enable collaboration across teams and regions.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will oversee and support our established offshore monitoring team, ensuring that processes, runbooks, and escalation paths are consistently followed. I will monitor trading platform health and proactively identify and address potential issues before they impact service. Collaborating with engineers, DevOps, and deployment teams, I will ensure that observability is built into new systems from the outset. As a key contributor during major incident calls, I will provide real-time insights and support rapid root cause identification. Leading improvements in monitoring quality through post-incident reviews and continuous feedback loops will be a priority. I will design and implement automation scripts and workflows for routine checks, smoke testing, and post-deployment validation, while also helping to drive the standardization and consolidation of monitoring tools and practices across the organization. Lastly, I will support the onboarding of new applications and infrastructure into the observability stack, tailoring solutions where off-the-shelf tools fall short and occasionally participating in planned weekend work for system upgrades or testing.
Description
We understand that no candidate will tick every box, but we appreciate those who are avid learners, quickly adaptable, and enthusiastic about improving systems, processes, and tools. If you have a solid foundation in production support or monitoring and the drive to expand your skills across automation, cloud, and trading systems, we want to hear from you. As part of our global organization, you'll be in a high-visibility role, modernizing our technology stack and gaining exposure to cutting-edge tools, complex technical environments, and transformation projects that directly impact trading operations. If you are proactive, curious, and passionate about making systems more reliable, efficient, and automated, we believe this role will provide you with the platform to make a measurable difference in our team.
