Requirements
Must:
- I have at least 5 years of experience in analytics engineering or closely related roles.
- I possess strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and dbt (or similar transformation tools).
- I have hands-on experience with Azure Databricks, Azure Data Factory, and cloud-based data platforms.
- I have a solid understanding of dimensional modeling, lakehouse/warehouse design, and scalable architecture.
- I am familiar with Git, CI/CD, and modern software engineering workflows.
- I am confident using Power BI or similar BI tools to support self-service analytics.
- I possess strong communication skills, enabling me to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
- I am comfortable in fast-moving, agile environments.
Responsibilities
- I will build and maintain scalable data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
- I will develop transformation workflows in dbt, SQL, and Python.
- I will design dimensional models and semantic layers to support analytics use cases.
- I will implement automated data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting systems.
- I will create reusable data assets and documentation to support self-serve analytics via Power BI.
- I will work with analysts and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- I will maintain clean, version-controlled codebases and contribute to documentation and data governance.
- I will support best practices in analytics engineering and provide guidance to junior team members.
Description
I am an experienced Analytics Engineer seeking to join a major logistics business undergoing a full rebuild of its legacy, siloed data estate. In this role, I will help drive the transformation by joining a newly formed data team under a new Head of Data, focusing on a clean-slate Azure-based platform. This position bridges data engineering and analytics, centering on building scalable data models, automated pipelines, and enabling self-serve analytics across the organization. The contract is for an initial duration of 6 months, with a likelihood of extension, and is based in Central London, requiring me to be in the office 3 days a week.
