Requirements
Must:
- Degree level or equivalent in a Science or Engineering discipline (e.g. Mathematics, Physics or Software Engineering).
- Hands-on experience, either through an advanced degree or working in industry, in any of the following:
- Using modelling tools to develop solutions to real-world problems.
- Electro-Optic sensor systems, image processing, or missile systems.
- Developing or using synthetic models of sensors, image processing techniques, or air vehicle dynamics.
- Verification, validation, and testing of systems or synthetic environments.
- Experience using Simulink.
- Proficiency in MATLAB or similar tools for cleaning, processing, and analyzing simulation output data.
- Track record of independently generating technical plans and effectively communicating work via reports/presentations.
- Desirable: EO domain knowledge and/or EO modeling experience (e.g. EO environments, EO Threat system understanding, EO countermeasure development), good understanding of the physics behind sensors, dynamics, optics and lasers, experience using C++, and an ability to learn quickly existing programming languages.
- Candidates must be sole UK Nationals, eligible to work and live in the UK, and able to undergo and maintain appropriate UK government DV Security Clearance.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will provide you the opportunity to support our Electronic Warfare Operations Support (EWOS) Group, which comprises 60 electronic warfare specialists from diverse backgrounds, including engineers, scientists, and ex-military personnel. You will work primarily on-site with the wider project team, creating leading-edge solutions to previously unsolved problems, using your data analysis and technical skills to develop solutions that protect aircraft from guided weapons. Your responsibilities will include access to state-of-the-art software models, planning, executing, and reporting studies to generate high-impact advice. You will be expected to draw meaningful conclusions from large sets of data, understand complex weapon systems, and utilize high-fidelity modeling tools. Moreover, you may need to develop bespoke analysis tools and support the verification and validation of your findings with wider stakeholders.

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Porton Down, Salisbury, with a salary range of £40,000 to £60,000, depending on experience. We also offer 25 days of annual leave, including up to 3 days off for the Christmas shutdown, and you can buy or sell up to 5 additional days.
