Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience in SQL performance tuning and query optimization. You should have familiarity with performance testing tools, such as JMeter or k6, and experience with observability platforms like Azure Monitor or Grafana. Strong problem-solving skills and a collaborative mindset are essential, along with the ability to develop and interpret management information for decision-making.
Responsibilities
As a Performance Engineer, you will be tuning and optimizing complex SQL queries to enhance system performance. You'll be responsible for building tools for diagnostics and managing deployment risks. Automating performance testing and benchmarking across environments will be one of your key tasks. Collaboration with Engineering, DevOps, and Product teams to improve throughput and scalability is vital. Additionally, you will support deployment strategies for high-risk releases and design and test new performance features.
Description
This is a hybrid role based in either Glasgow or Edinburgh, with 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home. We are offering a salary of up to £50,000, along with hybrid working options, generous annual leave, private healthcare, bonus schemes, and access to top-tier learning platforms. If you have experience in financial services or data-heavy enterprise environments, knowledge of reconciliation or financial data processing systems, exposure to containerized environments (Docker/Kubernetes), or experience with Microsoft Fabric and lakehouse architecture, we would love to hear from you.
