Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate with a degree in a technical discipline and extensive recent experience in software development processes, specifically in designing, developing, and implementing enterprise-scale technology. You should have proven experience in leading teams in developing architectures, and experience designing enterprise architecture using modern, enabling technologies and processes such as cloud computing, CI/CD, virtualization, agile design and development, and REST services, as well as standards-based authentication and authorization protocols. You must also have experience collaborating with cybersecurity experts, product owners, users, and developers to design and communicate an innovative and secure architecture that enables continuous delivery of software. Experience in decomposing monolithic software into manageable pieces, especially in related software domains, and designing shared services like caching, eventing, and messaging in a distributed environment is essential.
Key skills should include extensive experience with Java or C, best practice coding, unit testing, and source control management. You should possess the knowledge and ability to perform complex tasks both independently and under supervision, and be an effective communicator. It would be beneficial if you have experience with C/C++, Perl, Python, or Bash scripting, as well as database skills with Oracle or Postgres and familiarity with Microsoft tools like Visio that support solution design. Additionally, you will need to gain UK SC (Security Clearance) for this role, requiring UK citizenship and a minimum of 5 years' residency in the UK.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will have you lead multiple software development teams to deliver solutions with architectures designed for capability improvements, reduced costs, and flexibility to quickly adapt to customer needs. You will be responsible for understanding high-level features and desired outcomes both now and in the future. Your responsibilities will include assisting with team building and analyzing desired outcomes, prioritizing application-level outcomes, and maintaining a roadmap of capability improvements alongside the Senior Leadership Team. You will formulate software designs that create solutions meeting various desired outcomes while balancing goals and constraints like customer environment, cybersecurity, and continuous integration/continuous delivery.
You will clearly communicate the software architecture to teams with varying levels of technical understanding, verify implementations to ensure they align with the agreed architecture, and manage changes to control software complexity. Your role will also involve ensuring design goals such as performance, modularity, reliability, maintainability, reusability, and accessibility are achieved. You will design, test, and evaluate technologies and vendor solutions for inclusion in existing architecture, lead design reviews, provide feedback, clarify quality software requirements, identify software risks early in the development cycle, and document the basis for architectural decisions.
