Requirements
Must:
To be successful as a Java Developer, you should have the following experience and skills:
- Proficiency in Java 8, with programming experience in reading, writing, and debugging multi-threaded code, including REST Services.
- Proven ability to work in a team environment and experience with the full Software Development Lifecycle.
- A demonstrable understanding of Java, J2EE, Spring Framework, and JDBC.
- Working knowledge of REST Services and Microservices.
- Familiarity with CI and unit test frameworks.
- Understanding of ORM technologies like Hibernate.
- Experience with tools such as Java Profilers and analyzing memory dumps.
- Knowledge of messaging platforms including Kafka, MQ, and Solace, as well as design patterns for producing and consuming messages.
- Familiarity with XML/JSON and related technologies.
- Proficient in SQL and database technologies such as MS SQL Server and Oracle.
- Experience working in an AGILE or SCRUM SDLC model.
- Experience as a Java developer in a global technology team, working in a scrum of 6-8 team members on end-to-end tech deliverables for a Lending product.
Some additional highly valued skills may include:
- Ability to work within a global team.
- Knowledge of No SQL databases such as MongoDB is a plus.
- Familiarity with DevOps fundamental practices.
- Proven experience in quality assurance techniques relevant to application development.
Responsibilities
In this role, my primary focus will be on designing, developing, and improving software using various engineering methodologies to provide business, platform, and technology capabilities for our customers and colleagues. My key accountabilities include:
- Developing and delivering high-quality software solutions using industry-standard programming languages, frameworks, and tools. This includes ensuring that code is scalable, maintainable, and optimized for performance.
- Collaborating cross-functionally with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define software requirements and devise solution strategies, ensuring seamless integration with business objectives.
- Engaging in code reviews with peers and promoting a culture of code quality and knowledge sharing.
- Staying informed of industry technology trends and innovations, and actively contributing to the organization's technology communities to foster a culture of technical excellence and growth.
- Adhering to secure coding practices to mitigate vulnerabilities, protect sensitive data, and ensure secure software solutions.
- Implementing effective unit testing practices to ensure proper code design, readability, and reliability.
