Requirements
Must:
- You must have a valid current SC Clearance.
- You should possess your own vehicle and be capable of traveling to five locations on short notice.
- A minimum of 12 months of experience working within a data centre environment is essential.
- You should have a background in installing and de-installing IT equipment in data centres.
- Knowledge and experience with the ITIL framework are required.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems supporting data centres, such as generators, UPS, and cooling systems, is necessary.
Desirable Skills:
- You should be able to draw upon your experience and technical acumen to guide and support all stakeholders interfacing with the Data Centres.
- A strong understanding of IT infrastructure (compute, storage, network) and facilities management (power, cooling, building management) is essential.
- Leadership skills and the ability to build relationships will be crucial for your success in this role.
Responsibilities
- You will ensure the safe and reliable operation of the data centre estate to protect housed services.
- Conducting regular IT asset audits to uphold data accuracy and compliance will be part of your tasks.
- You will maintain accuracy in the Nlyte or equivalent DCIM tool to monitor capacity limits.
- Managing changes and risks through the Change Control Process will be essential.
- Raising change or incident tickets as necessary will fall under your purview.
- Providing incident management support within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs) is a necessary duty.
- You will represent the data centre estate in CABs, workshops, and multidisciplinary events.
- Validating technical designs to ensure safe housing and supportability will be required.
- Delivering data centre inductions and maintaining access records to meet safety requirements is expected.
- You will prepare for and complete all required audits.
Description
The primary objective of the Data Centre Technical Analyst is to deliver comprehensive technical support to all parties involved in running the Data Centre estate. You will liaise with suppliers such as National Grid Property, Mitie, Vodafone, M-Group, and Verizon, ensuring that all works comply with established operational processes. You will manage data centre capacity, including airflow and power analysis, identify and implement efficiency improvements, oversee audit compliance (including IT Asset Audits), manage physical security and access control, and support incident management activities. The role also encompasses process review and improvement and providing technical expertise to all parties operating within the data centre estate. Out-of-hours work and participation in an on-call incident management rota may be required. This is a contracting role based in Wokingham, with essential weekly travel to other locations including Warwick, Corsham, Farnborough, and Reading, sometimes on short notice. The initial duration of the assignment is for 6 months, with possible extensions based on your performance.
