Requirements
Must:
- You must have the right to work in the UK and hold valid residency status. Please note that sponsorship is not provided.
- Critical Skills required:
- PHP8+ and the Laravel framework.
- MySQL.
- Proficiency in Laravel.
- Solid understanding of server management (e.g., Linux, Docker, Nginx/Apache).
- Knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Experience in back-end development: 5+ years is required.
- Qualifications needed:
- Familiarity with Laravel.
- Proficiency in MySQL.
- Expertise in PHP.
- Experience using Jira.
Responsibilities
As a Back-end Developer, you will be responsible for:
1. System Architecture Design:
- Designing and implementing a scalable backend architecture to handle high traffic, complex workflows, and future growth.
- Implementing modular and reusable components for core functionalities.
2. Development of Core Features:
- Building key marketplace features such as user authentication, service listings, order management, payment gateways, messaging systems, and a review/rating system.
- Developing APIs to connect the backend with front-end and mobile applications.
3. Database Design and Management:
- Designing efficient, normalized database schemas and optimizing database queries for performance.
- Implementing database backup and disaster recovery plans.
4. Security:
- Ensuring the platform is secure against common vulnerabilities and unauthorized access.
- Handling user sessions and authentication securely with proper encryption for sensitive data.
5. Performance Optimization:
- Optimizing server-side code and using caching mechanisms to reduce database load.
- Monitoring server performance for optimal efficiency.
6. Integration with Third-Party Services:
- Integrating third-party APIs for payment processing, geolocation, analytics, and notification systems.
7. Collaborating with Frontend Developers:
- Ensuring smooth communication between backend APIs and frontend teams for consistent user experiences.
8. Code Reviews and Mentorship:
- Conducting code reviews and mentoring junior developers on best practices.
9. Testing and Debugging:
- Implementing automated testing and debugging issues across development and production environments.
10. Deployment and Maintenance:
- Setting up CI/CD pipelines, monitoring server uptime, and rolling out updates smoothly.
11. Compliance and Best Practices:
- Ensuring compliance with data protection laws and following coding standards.
12. Scalability and Future-Proofing:
- Planning for future scalability and staying updated on new Laravel features and PHP advancements.
