Requirements
Must:
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years in software development for large-scale distributed systems.
- Proficiency in Golang (essential), Python; strong experience with AWS and GCP (IAM, KMS, storage, native services).
- Experience with PostgreSQL and NoSQL databases.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, serverless architectures, and Terraform.
- Strong background in encryption, authentication, and cloud security principles, especially in regulated environments.
- Experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI) and monitoring solutions (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ELK).
- Agile experience; strong communication skills; ability to adapt in a fast-paced delivery environment.
- Proven expertise in building and scaling RESTful APIs and microservices.
- Experience in data security/cryptography and integration with messaging/streaming services.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend REST APIs and frontend clients.
- Implement and manage database schema changes using Liquibase, in line with compliance and audit standards.
- Engineer secure, tamper-proof data solutions across AWS and GCP.
- Support the ransomware protection strategy through effective platform and service design.
- Collaborate closely with Architecture, DevOps, and Security teams.
- Contribute to a small, agile delivery team, making a significant impact and gaining high visibility.
- Conduct root cause analysis, resolve incidents, and address performance bottlenecks.
Description
We are looking to onboard a Senior Software Engineer (Platform Engineer) on a contract basis for a large global bank. You will join a dedicated 4-person team within Infrastructure in the Chief Technology Office. This is an initial 6-month contract with good potential for extension. The role will be hybrid, with a preference for it to be based at our offices in Sheffield; however, Birmingham and Edinburgh office locations may also be considered. This initiative is a crucial part of our ransomware and data protection strategy, focused on safeguarding cloud data (AWS/GCP) against ransomware attacks by creating tamper-proof, immutable copies of critical data. We expect strong software engineering expertise in Golang and cloud-native engineering skills, with an emphasis on building resilient, secure, high-availability systems.
