Requirements
Must:
- Level 4 DevOps Apprenticeship graduate, university graduate with a Computer Science related degree, or relevant experience.
- Awareness of Software Development Life Cycle including version/source control and task/issue management.
- Familiarity with cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure, containerization, and implementation using Infrastructure and Configuration as Code.
- Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, including automated build, testing, and deployment.
- Good communication skills with a passion for teamwork and problem-solving.
- Ability to make decisions confidently, using available information and support from others.
- Self-motivated and proactive, demonstrating a strong sense of ownership and initiative.
Responsibilities
- Understand business requirements and transform them into code.
- Contribute to automated unit and integration tests to ensure code quality.
- Identify issues to ensure citizen-facing services are repeatable, scalable, resilient, and highly available.
- Facilitate the resolution of problems that prevent the delivery of software engineering activities.
- Write code that is simple and flexible to build, configure, and deploy.
- Find ways to optimize the current development process.
- Actively participate in community discussions about best practices and contribute towards fostering a DevOps culture within DWP.

We are seeking an Associate DevOps Engineer to join our multi-functional agile delivery team, where you will collaborate with engineers, researchers, testers, and others. You will work on the design, development, and maintenance of infrastructure-as-code and enjoy ample opportunities to learn and grow in your role.
You will be based in one of our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or Sheffield, with a hybrid working model, attending the office about 40% of the time.
