We are looking for applicants who meet the following criteria:
- You must be a Registered Nurse (NMC) or an Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
- Experience or training in a theatre environment specializing in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery is essential.
- A solid understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles is required.
- You should possess the ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must.
- A keen attention to detail, accuracy, and a commitment to safe surgical practice are crucial.
Responsibilities
As a Theatre Practitioner, your duties will include:
- Assisting the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety.
- Supporting the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning.
- Providing post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
- Adhering to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
- Setting up operating theatres according to the surgery type and specific patient requirements.
- Checking all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and reporting faults immediately.
- Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
- Supporting and contributing to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Albyn Hospital, located in Aberdeen and part of Circle Health Group, is seeking a dedicated Theatre Practitioner to join our Theatre department. This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week, with a flexible shift pattern. We offer a competitive salary of up to £37,000 per year, depending on your level of experience, training, and qualifications.
