Requirements
Must:
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- I am an NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
- I have demonstrated clinical leadership experience and the ability to act as a role model to peers.
- I possess a strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
- I hold a Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification (for scrub leads).
- I have completed ENB 998 and/or a mentorship course.
- I have approved/recognized anaesthetic training.
- I am ILS certified.
- I possess excellent communication, organization, and mentoring skills.
- I am committed to personal development and supporting the development of others.
Responsibilities
As a Lead Theatre Practitioner, I will:
- Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
- Ensure all patient safety checks, including the WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
- Apply all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff, and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.

This permanent, full-time role requires 37.5 hours per week with a flexible shift pattern. The salary for this position is up to £52,000.00 per year, depending on my level of experience, training, and qualifications.
