As the Virtualisation Platform Engineer, I require you to possess proven experience in a similar role. You should have strong knowledge of on-premises virtualisation platforms and container orchestration. Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and automation scripting, such as Bash or Python, is essential. Additionally, experience with monitoring, alerting, and incident response systems is necessary. A passion for engineering excellence and operational efficiency is also a key attribute that I value.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for building and maintaining both on-prem and cloud infrastructure, including VMware Hypervisor, vSphere, OpenStack, AWS, GCP, and Azure. Deep knowledge of operating systems and networking principles, including Windows, Linux, firewalls, and load balancers (such as Palo Alto and F5), is crucial. Your responsibilities will also include managing containerised environments (like Kubernetes and Docker), developing and optimising CI/CD pipelines, ensuring system reliability, scalability, and performance. You will implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform and champion DevOps/SRE principles across teams.
