Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who have at least 7 years of experience in API development and management. You should possess strong expertise in Kong API Gateway, IBM DataPower, and IBM CloudPak for Integration, along with hands-on experience in API design, development, and lifecycle management. Proficiency in RESTful and GraphQL API design and development is essential. Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, as well as familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP, is required. A solid understanding of API security standards, including OAuth, OpenID Connect, and API Gateway security, is necessary. Additionally, experience with scripting and automation using Python, Shell, or Terraform, along with familiarity with API monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Splunk, is expected. We value excellent problem-solving skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and strong communication and leadership skills to guide teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead the architecture, design, and implementation of API solutions utilizing Kong API Gateway, IBM DataPower, and CloudPak. You will define API standards, best practices, governance, and security models for the development and management of APIs. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be key as you integrate APIs with various backend services and external platforms. You will ensure APIs are optimized for performance, scalability, and security while implementing authentication, authorization, and security protocols such as OAuth, JWT, and Mutual TLS. Monitoring API performance and troubleshooting issues using observability tools will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will design and implement API versioning, rate limiting, and throttling policies. Providing mentorship to developers and advocating for API-first design principles will be essential, as will evaluating new API technologies and trends to enhance our API strategy. Lastly, you will work closely with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines for API deployments.
