Must:
We are looking for an individual with a strong technical background in software design and architecture. You should have experience with model-based engineering and software design patterns. Proficiency in one or more programming languages, such as C++, C#, Java, or Python, is essential. Additionally, we seek someone knowledgeable in modern engineering practices, including continuous integration and automated testing. You should be capable of explaining complex architectural concepts clearly and have the ability to mentor development teams. Strong communication skills are a must, as you will need to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Responsibilities
As a Software Architect, you will define, document, and own the full software architecture for major projects, from concept through to implementation. You will establish structural and temporal architecture, ensuring consistency and integrity across components. Your role will include identifying and managing design drivers like real-time performance, safety, security, flexibility, and reusability. You will produce derived and emergent requirements with clear rationale and traceability. Collaboration will be key, as you will work closely with systems, hardware, and software engineers to ensure technical alignment. Additionally, you will contribute to our long-term technology strategy, influencing tools, frameworks, and architectural direction.
Description
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Software Architect or a highly capable Senior Software Engineer ready to take the next step in their career. You will be working in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment to help shape robust, secure, and scalable software solutions that underpin next-generation weapon system designs. This is a hybrid role, typically requiring 3-4 days on-site per week, with a competitive salary of up to £80,000 dependent on experience. We also offer a bonus of up to 21% of base salary based on performance, up to 14% combined employer/employee pension contribution, flexible and hybrid working arrangements, enhanced parental leave and family support, and excellent site facilities including subsidised meals, free parking, and wellbeing amenities.
