Requirements

Must:
We are looking for an Android Engineer with 3-5 years of experience in Android development. You should have a strong portfolio of published applications on the Google Play Store, showcasing your expertise. Proficiency in Kotlin is essential, while familiarity with Java is a plus. You must possess a solid understanding of the full mobile development lifecycle, along with a strong knowledge of clean architecture, MVVM, SOLID principles, and software design patterns. Experience with Jetpack Compose and XML-based UI for building modern, responsive interfaces is required. Additionally, familiarity with Android frameworks like Room, LiveData, and WorkManager, as well as experience with OAuth 2.0 authentication, is preferred. Hands-on experience with reactive programming using Kotlin Coroutines and Flow, unit and UI testing with JUnit and Espresso, and Agile methodologies in Scrum teams is essential. We seek strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills, coupled with excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will design and develop advanced applications for the Android platform using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. You will ensure adherence to SOLID principles, clean architecture, and software design patterns to build scalable and maintainable applications. Following the repository pattern with MVVM for structured data access and maintaining high code quality will be crucial. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including designers, backend developers, and product managers, will be vital for defining, designing, and implementing new features. You will work with Room Database and other data persistence mechanisms, implement authentication mechanisms like OAuth 2.0, integrate Google Maps, Sentience, and Location Services, and utilize Kotlin Coroutines and Flow for efficient handling of asynchronous events and data streams. Your role will also involve bug fixing, performance optimization, writing clean, maintainable code, and implementing unit and UI testing strategies using JUnit and Espresso to ensure application reliability.

Description

This is a remote position; however, you must be able to commute to Crewe once a month. We offer a competitive salary of £60k plus performance-related bonuses. We value continuous learning and encourage you to stay updated with the latest Android development trends, exploring new technologies to enhance development efficiency. Familiarity with Figma for design collaboration, Azure DevOps for source code management and CI/CD pipelines, and experience with white labeling applications is a nice-to-have. At Acorn by Synergie, we act as an employment agency for permanent recruitment, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
