Must:
We are looking for a technically advanced professional with proven experience in a 3rd line or senior IT support role focused on networking. You should have in-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, IP Routing, DNS, DHCP, NAT, and subnetting. Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment and technologies is essential. A CCNA certification is required, while CCNP or other advanced networking certifications are desirable. Familiarity with network monitoring and diagnostic tools is a plus. You should be proficient in Windows OS, Server OS, and Microsoft Exchange (SMTP, POP3, IMAP). Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and Office 365 is necessary. Candidates should also possess excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, hold a full clean UK driving license, and be able to pass a DBS check.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will require you to provide expert-level support for escalated technical issues across hardware, software, and networking. You will lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex network incidents and performance issues. Your tasks will include configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting network infrastructure, such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless access points. You will design and implement secure LAN/WAN architectures and VPN solutions, and monitor network traffic and performance using diagnostic tools like Wireshark and SolarWinds. Additionally, you will manage IP addressing schemes, VLANs, and routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, EIGRP). Ensuring network security through access controls, firewall policies, and intrusion detection systems will be critical. Collaboration with infrastructure and security teams on network upgrades, migrations, and architecture planning will also be part of your responsibilities. You will support server environments including Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange, and maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions. Evaluating and recommending new technologies to enhance operational efficiency and network resilience will be expected as well.
