Requirements
Must:
- At least 1 year of experience in networking.
- A solid understanding of switches, routers, LAN, and WAN.
- Familiarity with wireless technologies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and escalate competing requests.
- Responsive to customer needs, with a determination to achieve satisfactory resolutions.
- A self-motivated desire to learn through various methods, including reading, practical work, observation, formal training, and initiative.
Responsibilities
- Provide network expertise for the effective and secure operation and development of IT networks.
- Offer guidance and support to university members and external agencies regarding network use, maintenance, and enhancements.
- Monitor the IT network, proactively detect and resolve issues while collaborating with colleagues and external agencies to address escalated concerns.
- Manage passive and active network equipment, including cabling, switches, routers, security systems, and related hardware/software.
- Deliver technical advice on IT network operations, including fault diagnosis, equipment installation, maintenance, and configuration.
- Plan, advise, prioritize, and implement limited IT network projects and new service development, coordinating with colleagues and external suppliers.
- Regularly review processes and systems, providing technical recommendations for improvements to ensure efficient network operation and service.
- Maintain and enhance service delivery standards by developing, reviewing, and updating operational procedures and documentation.

The role of Network Engineer comes with a competitive salary range of £34,000 to £37,000. We are dedicated to ensuring secure and effective network operations and development while providing exceptional support to our users and stakeholders.
