Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who possess the following essential experience, skills, and knowledge:
- Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and automation tasks.
- Experience with data warehouse methods and techniques, including ETL processes, data modeling, and design.
- Strong experience with Linux command line and scripting.
- Software development experience with data-processing platforms, particularly with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, or Databricks.
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience with relational databases, including proficiency in SQL for data querying and management.
- Practical knowledge of using and configuring CI/CD tooling, such as Azure DevOps (ADO), GitHub, and ARM/Bicep.
Responsibilities
As a Data Engineer on our team, I will expect you to:
- Join our expanding Data Platform Team, contributing to our modernization efforts through Programme Ocean.
- Maintain and support both our legacy data platform (Fountain) and the new Data Platform, ensuring integrity and the appropriate framework of pipelines and processes are in place for migration.
- Work collaboratively with a small team of Data Engineers and other Digital and IT roles to bridge the gap between data producers and users, developing solutions, pipelines, and self-service tools to acquire and transform data.
- Collaborate with the Programme Ocean and Data Strategy teams to ensure we meet our program outcomes in migrating to a modern data platform.
- Engage with various Microsoft 365 tools and software that support data services across Ofwat, as well as exploring new innovation initiatives.
