Requirements
Must:
To be successful in this role, I require you to have a strong background in software engineering, software design, or database design, as well as architecture and integration of various protocols like FTP, MQ, and Connect Direct. Experience in providing technical leadership and accountability for a software engineering team is essential. Iām looking for individuals who are familiar with test-driven development and the use of automated test frameworks, mocking, stubbing, and unit testing tools. You should also have knowledge of the key phases of the software delivery lifecycle and established software development methodologies.
Additionally, it is important that you possess:
- Knowledge and experience in iSeries or AS400 language, including RPGLE, Free Format RPGLE, SQL, Imbedded SQL, and stored procedures
- Knowledge or experience of IBM Power 10 infrastructure hosting the v7r5 operating system
- Knowledge or experience of DB2 database structures
- Knowledge or experience of full system end-to-end design or project life cycle activities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge or experience of Agile methodologies
Responsibilities
In this role, you will lead a team of developers and set the technical direction for our software deliveries. Your responsibilities will include applying the principles and methodologies of software engineering to the technical design, development, testing, and maintenance of applications and services. You will play a critical role in ensuring the work quality of the software engineering team meets the technical standards for all service outputs.
Day-to-day, you will be:
- Monitoring technical progress against plans while safeguarding functionality, scalability, and performance, and providing updates to stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring the team in understanding relevant software languages and technical domains
- Driving the adoption of software engineering principles, processes, and best practices
- Liaising with engineers, architects, business analysts, and other key stakeholders to understand objectives, requirements, and options
- Designing and developing high-volume, high-performance, and high-availability applications using proven frameworks and technologies
