Job Title: Vehicle Management/Mission Systems Engineer Location: Warton – We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role. Salary: £47,683 - £52,426 (dependent on skills and experience) - Experience of working at all levels of the systems engineering lifecycle and the ability to develop and communicate clear and concise requirements, defining and modeling system functionality and behavior using Simulink, Cameo or similar, as well as understanding the principles and advantages of Requirements Management. - An understanding of the physical, functional, and performance challenges of developing safety-critical Airborne Vehicle Control systems, such as Flight Control Systems and Vehicle sub-system control while closely integrating these with the platform. - Familiarity with digital communication interfaces in both digital and analogue domains, such as Ethernet, 1394b, 1553, RS-422/485, etc., as well as experience analyzing test data to identify problems or demonstrate requirements compliance. - Experience in building safety-critical control system architectures, setting these systems to work, and fault finding when necessary. - A working knowledge of other Vehicle systems, such as Power Generation, Flight Actuation, Fuel Systems, and Hydraulic Power systems.

Responsibilities

- Support the FalconWorks Systems Delivery and platform teams in analyzing and selecting solutions for future platform Vehicle Management Systems. - Refine platform concept of operations into Vehicle Management System requirements and design. - Develop a VMS System Architecture by using a combination of external COTS systems, internally sourced systems, and prior experience from across the organization. - Liaise closely with the Vehicle Systems team to support the development of interface and control strategies for Air Vehicle Sub-systems. - Maintain close communications with Commercial/Procurement teams to provide technical oversight during supplier management, contract negotiations, and risk reviews. - Support the design and operation of system test rigs. - Integrate the VMS with onboard Vehicle Systems and the Ground Control System. - Support System Safety activities such as Fault Tree Analysis. - Qualify the VMS for flight by generating clearance documentation. - Support platform flight trials.
