Requirements
Must:
We require strong experience in PHP and Python, along with a solid understanding of microservices and event-driven architecture (for example, Apache Kafka). Familiarity with frameworks like Laravel and design patterns such as MVC is essential. You should have proven leadership skills in software development and mentoring junior developers. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills are crucial. Experience with tools like Git, PHPUnit, PyTest, and static analysis tools would be a plus.
Responsibilities
In this role, I will expect you to provide technical leadership and architectural direction across our platform. You will design scalable and resilient software solutions using PHP and Python. Mentoring and coaching junior developers to foster a culture of continuous learning will be part of your responsibilities. You will also collaborate with cross-functional teams, including architecture, operations, QA, and external system providers. Driving innovation by evaluating and implementing emerging technologies will be key, as well as maintaining high standards of code quality, testing, and documentation.
Description
We are searching for a Principal Application Developer who can write efficient code in both PHP and Python for our scaling Telco business. This is a hybrid position, requiring someone to be in our West Midlands office three days a week.
