Requirements
Must:
- Proven experience delivering enterprise data warehouse solutions
- Strong SQL and data modelling capability
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms (Azure preferred)
- Experience building ELT/ETL pipelines (Python, dbt, Airflow or similar)
- Experience in NHS or large public sector data environments
- Understanding of healthcare data structures (CDS, SUS, RTT, EPR extracts etc.)
- Strong grasp of data governance and IG in healthcare
- Direct experience working on NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) deployments (highly desirable)
- Experience working with Palantir-based environments (highly desirable)
- Previous involvement in Trust-level data warehouse modernisation (highly desirable)
- Experience supporting operational use cases (flow, theatres, RTT, elective recovery) (highly desirable)
Responsibilities
- Support migration of existing Trust data warehouse assets into the FDP environment
- Design and optimise scalable data pipelines for operational and clinical data
- Build and enhance ELT/ETL processes
- Develop robust data models aligned to FDP standards
- Improve performance, reliability and governance of warehouse architecture
- Support integration of EPR, PAS and operational systems into the platform
- Work with BI and analytics teams to ensure usable, trusted datasets
- Provide technical assurance and documentation
Description
We are an NHS Trust progressing the implementation of the NHS Federated Data Platform (FDP) as a core enterprise data environment. We seek an experienced Senior Data Engineer to support the design, migration, and optimisation of our data warehouse capabilities within the FDP ecosystem. This is a hands-on delivery-focused role where you will work alongside the FDP Programme Lead and our Group Digital Delivery function. Our contract offers a hybrid working model in the UK with an initial duration of 6 months and a day rate dependent on experience.
