Requirements
Must:
- I have experience developing and maintaining client and server-side applications.
- I have a background in developing and maintaining infrastructure as code.
- I am familiar with AWS and have experience debugging, performing root cause analysis, and resolving production issues.
- I have experience with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing tools and practices (e.g., Jest, Playwright).
- I have successfully integrated and onboarded 3rd party vendors and have met with vendor engineering contacts to define integration patterns.
- I understand microservices and the principles of RESTful API development, including structuring, documenting, versioning, and testing.
- I have experience performing code reviews and operating within an Agile framework.
- I am accustomed to working in a DevOps culture.
Responsibilities
- I build and run AWS Cloud-native applications using TypeScript, Node.js, and React.
- I develop infrastructure as code using Terraform and AWS services.
- I establish and maintain automated tests for changes being implemented.
- I write high-quality, secure, tested, and performant code.
- I work collaboratively with others in a cross-functional team to deliver high-quality digital client journeys.
- I advocate for continuous improvement within the team, focusing on quality, security, performance, and CI/CD processes.
- I document all solutions produced to agreed team standards.
- I demonstrate a willingness to learn and adopt new technologies and techniques from the development team.
- I cultivate strong working relationships within my squad and across Hargreaves Lansdown as a whole, actively participating in working groups and communities of practice.
- I continually develop both my technical and interpersonal skills, provide engineering support for existing applications when necessary, and coach and mentor peers.
Description
- I possess excellent knowledge of HTML/CSS (SCSS), JavaScript, and TypeScript, and I have a strong working knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, particularly React and Node.js. - I have professional experience with AWS services, especially Lambda, S3, EventBridge, SQS, and ECS. - I am fluent in using Git (GitLab) and have an understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Trunk Based Development. - I am aware of website performance implications, best practices, and other non-functional requirements. I can write, assist in writing, or review technical documentation. - I advocate for excellent development practices that optimize for rapid and continuous delivery of client value. - I am an excellent collaborator and communicator, with strong problem-solving skills and effective time management. - With a pro-active and resourceful attitude, I am focused on delivery, committed to continuous improvement, and always willing to assist others while maintaining high-quality work. - I promote the culture of Hargreaves Lansdown, dedicated to quality, drive, entrepreneurial activity, and outstanding client service. I am excited about this opportunity as a full-stack Software Engineer, working remotely full-time (37.5 hours a week) and occasionally gathering on-site in Bristol for team days.
