Requirements
Must:
We are looking for candidates who fit right into this role if they have an in-depth knowledge of software development and strong experience building production-grade applications in one or more of the following areas: .NET (C#, RESTful API development, Messaging, Azure), Flutter (Dart, Provider/Riverpod, Integration testing), and Vue.js (TypeScript, Storyblok, Vitest/Jest, Component libraries). You should also have hands-on experience with modern development practices, including CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevOps principles, and version control branching strategies. A good understanding of infrastructure as code and its importance in the Software Development Lifecycle is essential.
We expect you to lead by example, advocating for clean and maintainable code with a focus on automated testing and TDD. Awareness of the changing security landscape is crucial, and you must promote the importance of following security best practices during solution development. Strong leadership and management skills are necessary, along with previous experience leading development teams. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important, as is the ability to present ideas to a range of technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the business. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, an understanding of microservice architecture, and a supportive attitude towards an inclusive culture are also required.
It’s not essential, but we’d love to hear if you have experience with Linux, Ubuntu Core, Snap package management, an understanding of cost management principles when working with cloud services, or experience working with logging and monitoring tools for reliability in distributed systems.
Responsibilities
As part of a product-aligned squad, I will have you contribute by leading the design and development of resilient, scalable, and secure software that delivers real value to our customers. You will provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of software developers, supporting their growth and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Collaboration with product and agile delivery functions will be key in translating business requirements into technology solutions while ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and customer needs.
You will proactively identify and resolve technical, process, or dependency-related blockers to keep the team productive. Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to improve code quality while advocating for best practices will be part of your role. Championing operational reliability by troubleshooting production incidents and ensuring prompt resolution will also be essential to promoting a blame-free culture. You will influence architectural decisions and contribute to the evolution of our platform and engineering practices. Leading your team towards becoming a high-performing, self-organising product team will be fundamental, applying adaptive planning techniques to deliver innovative solutions to business problems. Staying curious and maintaining an awareness of emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation in your team’s technology solutions will help us thrive.
