Requirements
Must:
- Strong hands-on experience with DBT in production (hundreds of models, ideally).
- Expert-level SQL skills.
- Proven experience working with ungoverned or messy datasets.
- Comfortable navigating incomplete documentation and figuring things out independently.
- Naturally curious, proactive, and collaborative – I encourage you to ask as many good questions as you answer.
- Great communicator, both technically and non-technically.
- Snowflake familiarity is desirable but not essential.
Responsibilities
- Wrangling large, messy datasets that haven’t been perfectly governed, embracing ambiguity, and showcasing creative problem-solving skills.
- Building, iterating, and maintaining models in DBT (this is non-negotiable), with heavy use of SQL.
- Supporting and improving a modern data stack; Snowflake experience is a significant advantage.
- Investigating data issues, trends, and anomalies with minimal direction.

We are seeking a Data Engineer who enjoys working mostly remotely and has a problem-solving mindset with a sharp eye for detail. This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing data team, tackling complex, high-impact projects while building and maintaining modern data pipelines that deliver real insight and drive smarter business decisions. Based in York, you’ll only need to be in the office once every couple of weeks (though you’re welcome more often if you prefer). This setup is perfect for anyone with a solid home workspace.
