Responsibilities
- Carry out regular email checks for correspondence from database end users and ensure issues are actioned and resolved within agreed SLA timelines.
- Maintain the Application Dashboard Manager to stay alert to new support tickets.
- Communicate with customers via phone and email, ensuring professionalism is always upheld.
- Undertake and complete scheduled workloads set up by previous DBAs from the previous shift.
- Create cases in the CRM system for client-specific work and incidents, ensuring they are closed once issues are resolved.
- Undertake daily checks during night shifts and communicate findings to colleagues on the following shift.
- Perform first-line fixes on all raised database issues before escalating complex issues to the Senior DBA on shift.
- Maintain, update, and upgrade the SharePoint knowledge base.
- Shadow Senior Oracle/SQL DBAs to aid future development within the role.
- Learn to perform various technical tasks, including restoring backups, disaster recovery, migrations, patching, tuning, and cloud hosting.
Description
We are a well-established and highly reputable Database Management Consultancy, providing top-notch database support, design, and development services across Oracle and SQL Servers for a global customer base. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a self-motivated, hardworking, and trustworthy Graduate with an IT/tech-based degree to join our talented team of over 20 DBAs. This role offers significant opportunities for progression with a defined career pathway, including opportunities to rapidly move up the pay scale. The salary starts at £26,000 and can increase by at least £10k within the first 12 months, contingent upon completing training milestones. We also provide financial support for various Oracle/SQL certifications and examinations to help you become a fully certified Senior DBA. You will begin your career life shadowing Senior Database Administrators to enhance your technical knowledge and skill set while gaining a thorough understanding of our company processes. Due to the nature of the role, we operate a 3-day weekly shift pattern on a 3-week rotating schedule consisting of both day and night shifts. Please note that this is a fully office-based role working from our modern facilities in the heart of Edinburgh.
