Must:
We require a strong candidate with hands-on experience in Kubernetes and OpenShift in secure production environments. Proficiency in GitLab and secure CI/CD pipeline practices is essential. You should be familiar with telemetry and logging tools such as Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog. A deep understanding of networking protocols, firewalls, VPNs, and security principles is crucial. Additionally, experience with security frameworks like NIST and ISO 27001, along with knowledge of container security tools (e.g., Aqua, Twistlock, Trivy) and vulnerability scanners, is necessary. Excellent analytical and communication skills are a must.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will design and implement security controls across containerised environments using Kubernetes and OpenShift. You will ensure secure configuration and access management within GitLab version control and CI/CD pipelines. Another key aspect of your responsibilities will be to integrate and secure telemetry tools, including Cribl, Elastic, Splunk, Fluentd, and Syslog. You will conduct threat modelling, vulnerability assessments, and risk analysis for the telemetry pipeline. Collaboration with DevOps engineers is essential to embed security into infrastructure-as-code and deployment workflows. Monitoring and responding to security events and alerts from observability platforms will also be part of your duties. Furthermore, maintaining documentation of security architecture, policies, and incident response procedures will be critical.
Description
We are looking for a highly capable Security Engineer to join our focused team in developing a telemetry pipeline MVP. This role requires deep technical expertise in containerised environments, observability tooling, and secure infrastructure design. The ideal candidate will ensure that security is embedded across the pipeline architecture, from deployment to data flow while collaborating closely with our DevOps and development teams. This position is based in the South of Manchester or Glasgow, with a requirement of 3 days on-site per week, and offers a rate of £600 per day, PAYE via Umbrella only. The start date is as soon as possible, with an end date of 31st March 2026.
