Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years as a UK resident.
- Strong hands-on experience with Pro*C, PL/SQL, and shell scripting (bash/ksh).
- Experience in developing and supporting batch workloads and high-volume OLTP systems within Oracle custom or Oracle Apps/EBS environments.
- Proven analytical skills, including legacy code analysis and providing technical input for solution design.
- Ability to deliver highly performant, resilient, and maintainable code.
- Experience with performance testing in demanding, high-transaction environments.
- Desirable skills include experience with Oracle encryption, key management (DBMS_CRYPTO), and exposure to containerising workloads and migrating services to AWS EKS.
- Familiarity with building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines in GitLab, as well as knowledge of AWS services and operational experience with Autosys, Dynatrace, and Prometheus.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimise Pro*C, PL/SQL, and shell script-based batch processes.
- Support a high-volume OLTP environment across custom Oracle applications and Oracle E-Business Suite.
- Analyse and modernise legacy code, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to understand requirements and prototype solutions.
- Deliver robust, performant code while conducting performance testing in high-volume, transaction-driven environments.
- Contribute to the enhancement of a mission-critical platform utilized across various government functions.
Description
We are looking for an experienced Oracle Batch Developer to join our team in supporting a major Government departments integrated, mission-critical Oracle 19c OLTP environment. This role is crucial for maintaining and modernising our batch processing estate, ensuring the performance and stability of a system that supports thousands of users and essential public services. The position is remote within the UK, with occasional client site visits in Newcastle or Manchester, and has a duration of 6 months. The daily rate for this role is £510, Umbrella only.
