Requirements
Must:
We are looking for an Operational Engineer with expertise in SAS 9.4 (DI) and SAS Viya 3.x (SAS Studio, VA, VI). You should have strong knowledge of ETL tools such as Pentaho and Talend, as well as experience with data virtualization using Denodo. Proficiency in SAS for data analytics and reporting is essential, and familiarity with Oracle is a bonus. A solid understanding of Agile and Scrum frameworks is required, along with hands-on experience with DevOps tools and practices (e.g., Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes). Strong SQL and data modeling skills are necessary. You should also possess excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
Responsibilities
As part of our team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and deployment of data integration and transformation solutions using Pentaho, Denodo, Talend, and SAS. You will architect and implement scalable data pipelines and services that support our business intelligence and analytics platforms. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, you will define technical specifications and deliver robust data solutions. We expect you to champion Agile and Scrum methodologies, ensuring timely delivery of sprints and promoting continuous improvement. Additionally, you will drive DevOps practices for CI/CD, automated testing, and the deployment of data services. Mentoring and guiding junior engineers while fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation will also be part of your role. Finally, you will ensure data quality, governance, and security standards are upheld across all solutions, as well as troubleshoot and resolve complex data issues and performance bottlenecks.
Description
This is a 6-month contract position that requires SC clearance. You will work in a hybrid model, spending 2-3 days in Telford, with a competitive rate of £550. We value a proven track record in data projects and teams, and certifications in Agile/Scrum, DevOps, or relevant data technologies will be seen as an advantage.
