Requirements
Must:
- Good understanding of Operational Support Systems (OSS) and Business Support Systems (BSS), particularly in Mobile.
- Strong knowledge of ITIL processes, especially in Change and Release Management.
- Expertise in BMC Remedy or similar ticketing software.
- Experience with integrating data from external sources into internal platforms, including ETL pipelines and API-based data exchange.
- Ability to design scalable, secure, and reliable OSS architectures that support Release and Change Management workflows.
- Familiarity with Radio Access Network (RAN), transmission technologies, and telecom protocols (2G/4G/5G/NB-IoT).
- Proficiency in SQL and database design for structured data flows and reporting.
- Skills in Python, Shell, or similar scripting languages for automation and data manipulation.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with RAN OSS design authorities to co-create and deliver solutions that meet the requirements outlined in the ESN contract.
- Develop a robust understanding of change control processes and utilize OSS designs to support and validate transitions before and after implementation.
- Partner with internal teams to design and deliver seamless data exchange solutions to visualization platforms, such as coverage portals, that incorporate network resilience and location-based insights.
- Create clear and comprehensive documentation of data flows and solution designs, ensuring they are traceable, auditable, and easy to maintain.
- Ensure all introduced systems comply with privacy and security standards, fully adhering to GDPR and internal security policies.
- Provide supportive guidance to a matrix (virtual) team of technical experts, assisting them in delivering network design solutions and offering thoughtful technical advice to internal colleagues and supplier partners.
Description
We are seeking a Network Design Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Bristol. This role will require you to be on site for 3 days a week and offers the flexibility of 2 days of remote work. The rate for this position is £475 per day, working inside IR35, and candidates will be required to operate through an umbrella company. In this role, you will have the opportunity to provide consistent data that describes the capability of the Radio Access Network (RAN), playing a critical role in simplifying the complex nature of the radio network to explain its status, availability, and the need for change to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Your contributions will directly influence the design and delivery of data feeds, automation, analytics, and reporting solutions, focusing on RAN Release and Change Management and ESN tools.
