Must:
- Extensive experience in VM Ware Platforms and Infrastructure Solutions, Networking Environments & Firewall Knowledge
- Expertise in leading infrastructure solution, design and process improvement activities within an IT operational environment
- Excellent communication and influencing skills for dealing with internal management and teams, business partners, and external IT service providers
- Excellent technical authoring skills
- Desirable skills: Mainframe (CICS, COBOL, Objecstar, CA Datacom, VSAM etc.), UNIX Environments (AIX, LINUX, Solaris etc.), Wintel / Storage / Desktop Environments, Data Centre Hosting, Cloud Services and integration, Mobile and BYOD, Middleware and Integration (IBM Message Broker, DataStage etc.)
Responsibilities
- Produce infrastructure design documentation based on a solution architecture
- Coordinate accurate estimates for inclusion in project costs and business cases
- Provide leadership within projects for technical resources and SMEs
- Contribute to infrastructure solution frameworks and patterns
- Establish root causes for incidents impacting deliverables and ensure issues are addressed
- Collaborate with 3rd party supplier build teams and leads to maintain compliance in implemented solutions
- Design product integration with 3rd parties into existing and new solutions
- Act as a technical escalation point for troubleshooting teams to resolve infrastructure issues
- Provide design inputs to areas of expertise, including Mainframe, Networks, Wintel, Database or Connect:Direct
- Produce and assure design patterns and Infrastructure Roadmaps
- Serve as a technical escalation point during both production services and the new production services build phase
Description
We are seeking an Infrastructure Designer to join our team on a contract basis until August 31, 2026, located in Manchester with a hybrid work model of three days onsite. This role involves creating infrastructure design documentation, coordinating project estimates, and ensuring compliance with design across various solutions.
