We are looking for candidates with a strong background in the following areas:
- Detailed knowledge of the Cards & Payments industry, including its history, trends, and future developments, to support the formation of technology strategies that leverage innovation.
- Proven experience in architecting and delivering commercially viable, end-to-end solutions that meet complex business goals, particularly integration projects across diverse technologies and application/infrastructure integration within the Consumer Banking & Payments domains.
- A demonstrated ability to provide an excellent customer/client experience, supported by a lean cost structure, strong controls, and a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
- A strong strategic vision.
- Real-world architecture experience in banking or financial services, with significant practical experience in defining and implementing enterprise-wide technical solutions.
- Strong technical and engineering skills, with hands-on experience in designing and implementing complex, distributed technologies including cloud services (AWS &/or Azure), micro-services, messaging, APIs, data transformation, ETL, monitoring tools, infrastructure, and security solutions.
- The ability to analyze complex information quickly and present it clearly to non-technical colleagues.
- An understanding of key considerations in secure systems and software design, as well as resilience and high-availability patterns for mission-critical applications, including multi-data-centre deployments.
- Hands-on capability to work with Leads, Solution Architects, Designers, and developers to support the resolution of critical issues.
Responsibilities
As an Infrastructure Architect, I am responsible for:
- Producing and owning the technology strategy and architecture for one or more domain areas within Consumer Banking & Payments, such as Cards and Payment Gateways.
- Defining the technology strategy, roadmaps, and vision in alignment with wider Group standards, using enterprise architecture techniques focused on business outcomes.
- Ensuring our technology services are customer and client-centric by providing innovative products and services and collaborating with Business Units to achieve their client and customer strategies.
- Leading the evaluation of technology industry and market trends to assess their potential impact on the architecture of the domain.
- Conducting technical briefings and recommending next steps to Operations & Technology stakeholders at all levels, including researching relevant technologies and developing proof of concepts as needed.
- Defining the technology architecture and strategy for domain areas in Consumer Banking & Payments, with a specific focus on Payment Gateways and Cards.
- Creating target and transition architectures to enable the organization to effectively pursue and realize business strategies.
- Reviewing concepts and end-to-end solutions, ensuring appropriate architectural governance approvals are obtained.
- Leading evaluations of the current technology environment to identify critical deficiencies and recommend improvement solutions.
- Supporting the implementation of resilient, scalable solutions for the business line while ensuring compliance with group policies and applicable laws and regulations.
- Partnering with engineers, architects, and colleagues within Operations & Technology and the business community to coordinate strategies and technology investment recommendations.
- Maintaining and tracking technical debt resulting from changes to target state solutions to accommodate various projects.
- Staying updated on relevant technologies and serving in a Subject Matter Expert capacity.
- Articulating and establishing best practices and anti-patterns regarding technology applications.
